Structured Numerical Linear Algebra Problems:
Algorithms and Applications
Cortona, Italy, September 19-24,
The workshop, organized by D.A. Bini, is supported by
INDAM, the National Institute of High Mathematics, and
MIUR project "Structured matrix analysis: numerical
methods and applications"
The aims of the meeting are:
Topics of the workshop are:
- to trace the state of the art in the research concerning structured
problems in numerical linear algebra and to investigate on the future research
- to favor the interplay between theoretical and applied research by
means of exchange of methodologies and expertises where the emerging applications
stimulate and feed theoretical research, and in turn the advanced theoretical
tools allow the design of more powerful algorithms for real-life applications.
Organizing Committe: F. Di Benedetto, D. Fasino,
L. Gemignani, N. Mastronardi, M. Redivo-Zaglia, G. Rodriguez, S. Serra and
- Structured matrix analysis including (but not limited to) Toeplitz,
Hankel, Vandermonde, Bezout, banded, semiseparable, Cauchy, Pick, Hessenberg,
mosaic, block, multilevel, matrices and the theoretical and applicative problems
from which they are originated (structured problems).
- All kind of applications which involve structured matrices including
(but not limited to) interpolation, integral and differential equations,
least squares and regularization, polynomial computations, matrix equation,
control theory, queueing theory and Markov chains, image and signal processing.
- Design and analysis of algorithms for the solution of structured problems.
The workshop will take place at Villa Passerini, a XVI
century monumental palace, also known as Il Palazzone,
which is located at walking distance (1 km) from
the center of Cortona
a village of Etruscan origin in Tuscany.
